Her mother is actress June Lockhart and granddaughter of actor Gene Lockhart. Lockhart was only a few years old at the time her professional career started. Her first role came to her when she was just four years old when she appeared in T is for Tumbleweed. This short subject film was selected for the academy award. The mother and daughter sat down for many hours together on set, learning about the field. Lockhart was even in several Lassie episodes. Dora in Jory was her first movie in 1972. The Sixth Sense starred her as Joan Crawford's Joan Crawford daughter at age 18. It was Joan's last performance on stage. There is a popular belief that Anne did not want to play the part as Laurie Strode in John Carpenter's horror film Halloween, in 1978. The role was later recast for Jaime Lee Curtis. Carpenter tells us that she was in his thoughts to play the part, but that she rejected the offer. Anne did not recall being contacted with the name of John Carpenter nor being offered the job. Perhaps one of her representatives turned down the role on her behalf without informing the actress. Glen Larson sent her an initial draft of a script that she was to use as an actor in the 1978 television program Battlestar Galactica. Initially, she rejected the part because it was too fragile. In the future, Glen created a brand new character just for her with a much stronger character named Sheba. The first 25-page script was read to Sheba and she was immediately in agreement. The show lasted for just one season. She appeared in Joyride in a film from 1977 co-starring Desi Arnaz Jr. Melanie Griffith Robert Carradine (son Desi Arnaz Jr. Lucille and Lucille) as well as with Robert Carradine. In 1987 she appeared in a co-production with Michael Moriarty and The Dark Tower.
